 Summer Spectacular
July
15, 2012 9am - 2pm
Despite the weather we had a
great show in 2012. It was cloudy all day but except for the odd sprinkle
the rain held off until the end of the show. We had 102 cars registered
this year, with 101 cars paying through the gate. There were 40 VIMA
members in attendance and 11 other clubs represented. Pacific Coast Mustang
won the club participation award with 3 members present.
A car show just doesn’t happen.
In order for it to be successful there is a lot of work behind the scenes as
well as a lot of work during the show. THANKS GO TO A LOT OF PEOPLE, too
many to name individually. Many of our members were involved in various
capacities such as organizing, obtaining trophy sponsors, collecting money
from sponsors, ordering trophies and dash plaques, designing “T” shirts,
ordering “T” shirts, getting door prizes, arranging for a PA system and
porta potties, marking the field the night before, setting up tents and
tables, collecting money at the gate, parking cars, registering
participants, counting ballots, selling 50/50 tickets etc. Thanks to all of
our members who without their help the show would not have happened. Of
course we have to once again thank the Optimists for coming to our show and
providing all of the great food for our members, participants and guests.
A special thank you goes out to
all our trophy sponsors who come through every year to ensure the show is as
successful as it can be. We ask that you please support those sponsors
through out the year as they have supported us. A complete list can be
found on the Results page showing the trophy winners and the name of the
donor. One of our sponsors even provided a Bear (A&W) to help with the
festivities and draw the name of the 50/50 winner.
A special thank you also goes
out to Allan Graham who managed to keep us informed and amused on the PA
system during the whole day. Even when the weather was turning sour he
managed to find a bit of humour to brighten our day.
And finally a really big thank
you goes out to everybody who attended the show either as a visitor, a
guest, a member or a participant for the way in which they left the park.
After everybody had gone all that could be found on the whole field was one
empty coffee cup that somehow got forgotten. Everybody should be
congratulated for leaving the park in exactly the same way or better than it
was before we arrived. Thank you car enthusiasts, you’re great.
